NETWORK OF NEIGHBOURS PROGRAM COORDINATOR

(temporary part-time, one-year, non-unionized position)


Role Summary:

Working under the direction of the Director of Advocacy, and in collaboration with the Advocacy Coordinator, this position coordinates and facilitates the Network of Neighbours Violence Prevention Training Program.

This community building training program focuses on helping neighbours gain knowledge and skills to help support a neighbour who may be experiencing violence in the home. It provides a foundational understanding of violence, explores harm reduction and allyship as a means to support someone experiencing violence, reviews different interventions that neighbours can use as support, and talks about how to develop and maintain ongoing support for someone post-intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop (and/or adapt) curriculum exclusive to the Network of Neighbours Violence Prevention Training Program depending on audience and opportunity.
  • Work collaboratively with a co-presenter to host and facilitate the Training Program (both online and in person)
  • Work to develop relationships in Waterloo Region and engage relevant stakeholders related to the training and the potential for collaborative delivery of specialized training based on different types of violence.
  • Manage communication with participants and partners ensuring they have the information needed to participate.
  • Manage accessibility accommodations to ensure everyone is able to participate in the training.
  • Manage feedback and evaluation processes, including administering and receiving responses to surveys and data analysis/report writing.
  • Develop marketing strategies and materials (posters, social media advertisements, blogs and writing, etc.) and conduct engagement and outreach activities with a goal to secure community partners and recruit workshop participants.
  • Monitor research, news, policy, programs, legislation and other information on special topics to ensure training maintains relevancy.
  • Presenting and sharing information relevant to Network of Neighbours with internal and external stakeholders as requested by the community.
  • Support in the necessary reporting to funder(s)

Skills, Qualifications, & Requirements:

  • Have or are working towards a diploma/certificate/degree in the social services, community building, advocacy, women’s and gender studies, or a combination of related work and academic experience
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience providing support to individuals, education and advocacy/or around issues related to gender-based violence
  • Relevant documented experience facilitating workshops, hosting trainings, or other participating in other public speaking efforts
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Concrete understanding of diversity and equity and how systems inform different experiences for different people; includes the ability to acknowledge the role of one’s personal privilege and its effect on unconscious bias
  • Comfortable working with marginalized women from diverse backgrounds
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, Internet, email, and database management
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills to create and reads minutes, letters, reports, articles and blog posts

 

Hours & Compensation:

Hours: 15 hours per week (Flexible planning time. But must be available on Tuesday days/evenings to accommodate the presentation schedule)

Location: Work from Home temporarily. Presentations will be delivered virtually to start but will eventually return to in-person learning (subject to government regulations).

Start Date: Monday February 21, 2022

End Date: Friday March 31, 2023

Pay Rate: Salary Grade 1. $23.81 per hour
